Santa Monica, CA - January 26, 2021 — GumGum, a global technology and media company specializing in contextual intelligence, today announced it has won four awards by Built In LA, including moving from number thirteen to number seven on the list of LA Best Places to Work.

“It is incredible to see that our efforts to maintain, and even enhance, our company culture despite all of last year’s hurdles has been recognized and continues to move us up the list,”said Phil Schraeder, Chief Executive Officer, GumGum. “Last year was challenging for everyone, but we used it as an opportunity to refocus and set a clear and aggressive strategy for 2021. We have been the contextual experts for over a decade and are excited to guide the industry in learning how to navigate a data privacy safe world.”

GumGum was recognized by BuiltIn for the following four awards:

LA Best Places to Work
LA Best Midsize Companies to Work For
LA Best Paying Companies
LA Companies with the Best Benefits

“In a year with a lot of change within our Company, and in the world, we doubled down on our employee experience and engagement strategies. GumGum’s values of Thoughtful, Agility and Grit proved to hold more true than ever this year as we all navigated the complexities and intricacies of staying connected for business and community purposes,” said Kelly Battelle, VP, People Operations, GumGum.

One key element to GumGum’s success was  investing in building out GumGum Connect, a program that brings together a diverse set of opportunities to foster meaningful connections in our now virtual world. This included activities like volunteerism, skill building courses, our fun ‘Bites Series’ led by our Executive team, virtual fitness & chess events, and more. Connect expanded into an internal platform that allows team members to easily sign up and participate in all our virtual offerings, fostering a powerful sense of community.

Built In determines winners for Best Places to Work based on an algorithm, using company data about compensation, benefits and cultural programs. To reflect the attributes candidates are searching for on Built In today, this year’s program weighted criteria more heavily, like remote opportunities and programs for diversity, equity and inclusion.

For over a decade, GumGum has been the leader in contextual intelligence using sophisticated computer vision and natural language processing technologies to scan text, images and videos when evaluating digital content.
